Corsairs RAM stands out from the rest because of the time and effort they put into there products and customers. The XMS2 DDR2 PC2-5400 series was created to do just that, stand otu from the rest. At a price of roughly $40 for a 1GB to $75 for a dual channel it is amoung the cheapest in the DDR2 PC2-5400 section.
Packaging
The RAM modules comes in a single one-sided plastic case. There is not much support for the RAM module other than some cardboard but the heatspreader will fix that issue. At a first glance the XMS2 RAM module looks well done, with matching colours (purple and yellow). The top of the package says what it is and continues down the right hand side. The bottom says "The Industry's Most Highly Awarded Memory". A quick look at the back seems to have the average items reviews, testimonials and barcode/warrenty box. The right hand side is lined with 8 awards from different sites. When you open the cardboard there is instructions on how to install the RAM, in five different languages. Design
Side 1
Side 2 The RAM module is simple, a solid black heatspreader with a logo, the RAM series and the RAM information is covering most of the RAM module. Nothing fancy, but it does look pleasing to the eye. Nothing too flashy or too dull. Technical Information 667MHz DDR2 Implemented using 32mb x 8 DDR2 SDRAMS 240-pin DDR2 DIMM Lifetime Warrenty Each module is tested. Writing Graph Comparing this to the OCZ System Elite... | | OCZ System Elite
| Corsair XMS2
| | Reading(avg.) | 24.78 mb/sec | 17.79 mb/sec | | Writing(avg.) | 16.44 mb/sec
| 28.67 mb/sec |
We see that the OCZ System Elite beats the Corsair in reading by 7 mb/sec and the Corsair beats the OCZ System Elite by 12 mb/sec in writing. However reading is more important than writing in regards to RAM as it needs to be able to read data faster than it writes it.
Rating This is an amazing memory stick comparable to most other budget series PC2-5400. I would recommand this if you plan on getting dual-channel kits, plus it is $10 cheaper than most other PC2-5400 budget series RAM modules.
